Ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy is used to treat more significant vein problems than traditional sclerotherapy. In most cases, the source of varicose veins and spider veins is a larger vein hidden under the surface of the skin diagnosed using painless, noninvasive ultrasound.
Ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy identifies and targets the affected veins. Under direct ultrasound visualization, a sclerosant is injected into the abnormal vein. This closes off the vein, resulting in relief of symptoms.
After ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy, patients report less pain from their veins and that their legs are generally more comfortable, allowing them to return to their normal activities. They also report renewed confidence when wearing clothes that expose their legs since unsightly veins have been addressed.
I saw Dr. Foley 8 weeks after having my last child regarding my varicose veins. She was easy to talk to and I felt that my care plan was extremely thorough. Drs. Foley and Hondo work as a team and delivered exceptional care. I have already recommended them to my friends!
